Fashion Week Happens in the O!

Three years ago Fashion Night Out was hosted by Vogue and the CFDA in New York City to encourage consumers to shop and support the fashion industry. With such a HUGE success in 2009, the event, now dubbed the biggest fashion event in history, and getting bigger every year. In 2010 16 countries participated... 2011, Orlando jumped on the FNO train!
From the far east and far west Orlando fashionistas with all different style put on their favorite designer pieces and attended the “IT” event held on September 8th 2011, and finally Orlando fashionistas were included!
Boutiques such as Chanel, Tory Burch and BCBG(among many others) participated offering their savvy shoppers glasses of champagne while they shopped the new designer fall lines. The Chanel boutique, complete with an amazing handbag I fell in love with and their promised exclusive limited edition FNO nail colors, this year three denim-inspired hues called Les Jeans de Chanel, Blue Rebel, Coco Blue and Blue Boy.
BCBG housed (along with many stores in the mall) the official FNO tee and a free miniature of the newly launched, BCBG Max Azria perfume. You know the one with the rose cap?? Mall at Millenia hosted the Pure Fashion Sweepstakes where winner would win one of 3 Millenia giftcards.
And Neimann Marcus, can just be described as a huge party while swiping your credit card! There was catered food, DJs on every floor, fashion photoshoots happening right there, live models showing off the latest fall pieces.
The following night was themed, Fashion Night in were invititation only guests .  viewed a RUNWAY SHOW INCLUDING: ANTHROPOLOGIE, BCBG, BETSEY JOHNSON, BLOOMINGDALE’S, LACOSTE, MAXSTUDIO.COM complete with many more fun activiutes and of course shopping for ALL.
Fashion for all, was open seating and held in the Grand Court, RUNWAY SHOW INCLUDING: ANN TAYLOR, BANANA REPUBLIC, CACHE ED HARDY, MACY’S, QUIKSILVER AND WHITE HOUSE BLACK MARKEt and MORE shopping!!
September 11th was the Runway to Hope event, also a ticketed event, complete with a FASHION SHOW INCLUDING: GUCCI, NEIMAN MARCUS, ST. JOHN, TORY BURCH while enjoying an amazing brunch. Celebrity Host George Kotsiopolous, co-host of Fashion Police on E! Entertainment.

THE BIG SHOW!!! Saturday Oct 15 2011

For a solid week the buzz up and down the Avenue, at all the trunk shows and meet the designer parties, has been about Saturday night's BIG show. This is the night the Avenue gets to showcase its uniqueness and elegance.
Fashionistas could be found on the red carpet in the latest trends and up and coming designers push for their collections to land a spot in one of the Avenue's most sought after boutiques!
Bubbly was flowing, chocolate shoes were on display and bites from some of the Avenue's most known restaurants were available. From mens suits to swim suits to ladies lingerie, handbags, RTW, swim wear and accessories, the runway was on fire with glitz, glamour and romance.
As promised, Jax the Doberman had his big moment on the runway! And Park Avenue wouldn’t be complete without title sponsor, Hariett who wore an all white get up with a royal blue bird in her head piece, priceless!
See Jax on stage LIVE http://youtu.be/OcG_zqtQOTw  ---Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Stein (Jax Owners)

Henri Bendel Grand Opening Weekend

All that glitters, Henri Bendel Mall at Millenia Grand Opening was nothing if not sparkly! Even the champagne had a certain sparkle. The long awaited boutique opened with their holiday collection, a gift with a purchase of $150 or more and to end the opening weekend, a New Your Brunch.
Their very own little miss Henri Bendel arrived in her homemade (by her mother) Hendri Bendel outfit...made "from collected pieces from our trips to NYC," Piper's mom told me. Complete with sparkly pink shows and a russet headband.
Statement jewelry, cocktail rings, luggage, dog sets…accessories for everything…even an international convertible outlet with case! My favorite of the night I’d have to say was the “HB flare” I put together and the HB striped rectangle ring! LOVE LOVE!!
If you didn’t make opening weekend, make it there SOON!!! For any holiday event, vacation, new puppy or just a handbag, HB is SURE to have JUST what you are looking for!

Third Thursdays D.A.D

Third Thursday Gallery Hop
By: Michelle Marks
On a hot and humid summer evening in Orlando, I grabbed a friend and said we were doing the something different then our normal routine. Being an amateur art lover, and always wanting to learn more, I was super excited to attend. The 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop at the Downtown Arts District, with over 20 venues participating in the cosmopolitan fun!
At 6p the hop officially starts, each 3rd Thursday of every month, at the CityArts Factory (the hub of the hop) and runs until 9p. Through the hop you’ll view, a series of galleries showcasing Orlando’s emerging and established artists as well as the nationally and internationally acclaimed ones. Drink, shop, talk, learn, participate, laugh, network; all right there in the heart of Downtown Orlando on a Thursday.
The June Thursday I attended the hop, I was devoured the art, fresh flowers and the BLING furniture (aka artistic inspirations) in the Lee James Floral Gallery. This happened to be my favorite gallery, as an amateur gallery hopper, the exquisiteness of the fresh flowers grabbed me, not only were they at the peak of freshness but they were decorated so lovely either with jewels or just arranged to perfection. The artist featured in this gallery was a 19 year old freshman, Ryan McGuire who’s passion for photography and skateboarding have him on his way to a successful career in photo journalism.
While enjoying the B-Side artist’s work in the Art CafĂ©, I met Asaan ‘Swamburger’ Brooks, Who told us the stories behind his work and what they meant to him. Paintings have a whole new meaning when you see what the artist is portraying! LOVED IT!
After experiencing what we did not expect in the hub, we ventured off to as many of the 20+ venues participating in the hop; boutiques, restaurants, bars, photography studios, all with the same concept, to highlight an amazing artist! We stopped in Club 57 West who was showcasing Christopher M W Johnson, Analysis of a Psycho; Animal Ink Blots Gallery. It was fun and interesting looking at abstract paintings with others and despite the name we all interpreted something different. Christopher was interesting and fun as well! He laughed with us and promised us we would enjoy his work and the “game” we were playing.
All in all, I’m so looking forward to the July 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop! I’m excited to see what artists will be featured and who I get to meet next!! For out of towners who find themselves here on the 3rd Thursday or local downtown dwellers, this event is NOT to be missed!
